Reading the year
Winter belongs to Japan and to Saturnia. The Kusatsu and Nagano protocol needs deep snow and runs in January and February only, while the free pools of southern Tuscany are at their best when the air is cold and the farmhouses are empty.
Spring and autumn carry most of the year. Kyushu, Budapest, the Val d’Orcia and both Turkish protocols run then, because the walking is pleasant and the baths are not crowded.
Summer is for the mountains and the Atlantic. The Austrian valleys, the lake at Hévíz and the island of São Miguel are all at their brightest from June to September.
