Protocol P-06, Austria
The Salzkammergut is a district of clear lakes between steep hills, once rich from salt. Emperors spent their summers in Bad Ischl, and the small towns on the shores still run their lake boats on timetables that suit a slow day.

Hotel hall, Mariánské Lázně
Indicative price
From CZK 42,900 per person
The price is indicative, per person in a shared double room. A manager confirms the final price when you send a request, because flights and hotel rates move with the season.
We change hotels only twice and move between lakes by water whenever there is a boat. Each day has one walk of one to three hours along a shore, and the afternoons are free.
Effort profile
Day by day
Day 1
To Bad Ischl
A drive south from the hotel through Bavaria. Afternoon coffee in Bad Ischl and a walk along the river Traun.
Day 2
Bad Ischl
The imperial villa and its park in the morning; in the afternoon the town’s modern thermal pools.
Day 3
Wolfgangsee
By bus to St. Wolfgang and across the lake by boat to St. Gilgen, with a shore path in between.
Day 4
Mondsee
A lazy day at Mondsee: the old church, a swim from the lido and a supper of lake fish.
Day 5
Attersee
The largest lake of the district, walked along its eastern shore and crossed by boat in the late afternoon.
Day 6
Hallstatt
An early boat to Hallstatt before the day visitors arrive, a climb to the salt mine terrace, and a night by the water.
Day 7
Home
A morning boat back across the lake and the road north to Mariánské Lázně.
What we arrange
- Minibus from the hotel and back
- Six nights in three lakeside hotels with breakfast
- Lake boat tickets on the planned crossings
- Entry to the Bad Ischl pools
- Three suppers with the group
What we leave to you
- Lunches and other suppers
- The salt mine tour, which can be added
- Travel insurance
What to bring
- Swimwear: the lakes are warm enough by July
- Comfortable shoes for shore paths and cobbles
- A small daypack for boat days
Hallstatt is crowded at midday from spring to autumn. We stay overnight precisely so that the group sees it in the early morning and the evening, when the lanes are quiet.
